Mediterranean Clarinet Quartet is led by Maltese clarinettist Jessica Ellul, a Master’s Graduate in Clarinet Performance from Canterbury Christ Church University under the tutorship of Professor David Campbell. The Quartet has been involved in the musical scene in Malta for the past twenty-five years and has recently been eager to promote Maltese composers and Maltese compositions. In fact, back in 2019, Jessica Ellul launched an album in collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra publishing works originally composed for clarinet and orchestra performing works by the late Charles Camilleri and Joseph Vella, as well as by Ray Sciberras, amongst others. Joining the Quartet today are Domnic Scerri, band leader of the Armed Forced of Malta Band, Christopher Camilleri a previous Melbourne Sinfonietta Bass Clarinet player and Michael Cutajar a Master’s graduate in Orchestral Playing from Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. The Quartet has recently been invited to perform in Vienna as part of the Chairpersonship of the Origination for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
