The Primrose Ensemble comprises string players, with pride of place going to violists; in fact, in this ensemble, a few second violin parts are often performed on the viola. The Ensemble was set up in 2018 with the aim of exploring new sound possibilities within a small, string ensemble. Since its early days, the Primrose Ensemble has been in residence in both Belgium and France, with their first recordings taking place in the south of France (Dieulefit) and at the Chateau de Waroux (Ans, Belgium). Their first CD was produced by Continuo Classics and includes works by H. Villa-Lobos, M. Ponce, and Y. Torres Maiani. It was released only recently. The Primrose Ensemble is particularly interested in traditional music, and in their concerts they frequently present original works around flamenco, as well as Chinese, Egyptian or Venezuelan music.
