An evening of Scandinavian Baroque Music!
This evening sees a very unique and special concert given by a group of specialists from Norway! L’État Libre de Neige, made up of Cathrine Bothner-By (Soprano), Hans Olav Gorset (Flutes), André Lislevand (Viola da gamba), Ulrik Gaston Larsen (Theorbo/Baroque guitar), and Lars Henrik Johansen (Harpsichord) will be regaling the audience with works that are extant only at the Norwegian Archives for Old Music. It is interesting to note that the programme includes two works, one by Campra and the other one by Lully. It appears that both these composers wrote these two pieces specifically for the Norwegian Court of the seventeenth century and the manuscript, as a consequence, has been kept in the Archives there.
The performance, which will be given on authentic period instruments, will be at St George’s Basilica and starts at 8pm.
This is truly a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be missed!
